Senior Backend Engineer

Fully Remote | Preference: Germany, UK, Spain
Salary: up to £120,000 per annum plus signing bonus

We’re partnering with a fast-growing fintech / DeFi company that’s building infrastructure to enable financial freedom through blockchain technology. Their products power secure, high-performance financial applications used by thousands of users and builders across the digital asset ecosystem.

They’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team and deliver scalable, high-throughput systems that form the backbone of their platform. This is a fully remote role with a focus on real impact, innovation, and technical excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain scalable backend microservices using NestJS

  • Design and implement high-performance, low-latency APIs and backend systems

  • Monitor system performance and reliability, ensuring uptime and stability

  • Profile and optimise databases, queries, and service throughput

  • Maintain code quality through documentation, reviews, and internal best practices

  • Set up alerting and monitoring systems for proactive incident management

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to shape architecture and sprint plans

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and introduce improvements to tools and processes

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of professional experience with Node.js and NestJS

  • Strong experience building microservices architectures for high-load systems

  • Proficiency with TypeScript, SQL, and PostgreSQL

  • Familiarity with Redis, message brokers (e.g., NATS, Kafka), and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)

  • Understanding of blockchain fundamentals, Web3, and related technologies

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and basic Kubernetes

  • Agile mindset with excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work remotely in a distributed, cross-functional team environment

Nice to Have

  • Deep familiarity with event-driven architectures and asynchronous patterns

  • Experience using Web3 libraries like ethers.js or web3.js

  • Prior experience in DeFi, fintech, or crypto environments
