Lead System Administrator - Linux / Senior
Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid) – 1 day a week in the office. Full-time remote work in Canada will be considered.
Salary: Up to $125,000 CAD with bonuses up to $140,000 CAD
Are you a seasoned System Administrator with a passion for Linux and team leadership? We're looking for a talented professional to lead a dynamic team of SysAdmins. This role is based in e have a strong preference for hybrid work (1 day per week in the office), but we are open to considering candidates across Canada for a full-time remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure optimal performance and availability of our hosting systems, including shared, virtualized, dedicated, and custom clusters.
Lead, train, and manage a team of skilled SysAdmins.
Diagnose and resolve performance issues related to network, CPU, memory, and more.
Respond to and resolve system incidents in real-time.
Identify and address security incidents, including abuse, blacklisting, malware, and phishing.
Monitor key performance indicators and escalate complex issues as needed.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a System Administrator (Apache, nginx, LiteSpeed) with an infrastructure service provider.
Expertise in system performance tuning, especially in high-traffic WordPress environments.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring SysAdmin teams.
Proficiency in cPanel/WHM; Plesk is a plus.
Familiarity with Bash scripting, email protocols (POP/IMAP/SMTP), and virtualization technologies (OpenVZ, KVM, Xen, VMWare, OpenStack).
Good understanding of DNS, IPv4/6, and database systems such as MySQL/MariaDB.
Experience with common website scripting languages like PHP, Perl, or Python.
Redhat/LPIC certifications are an asset.
