Role Overview
As the Senior National Account Manager, your role will involve managing key national accounts, ensuring both client satisfaction and business profitability. You will be responsible for growing and developing specific account portfolios, aligning them with the company’s broader strategy. The role also involves forecasting sales, controlling promotional budgets, negotiating favourable trading terms, and implementing strategies that maximise growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow client relationships across multiple national accounts, ensuring that brand and category strategies meet client and company goals.
Deliver accurate and timely sales forecasts and maintain updated reports on account trading policies and objectives.
Negotiate optimal trading terms, including pricing, service levels, and profitability to drive maximum returns.
Oversee product promotions and new listings, ensuring opportunities are fully leveraged across accounts.
Effectively manage promotional budgets and identify areas for improvement to ensure efficient use of resources.
Monitor account performance, achieving budgeted sales targets and responding to market changes with strategic adjustments.
Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with internal teams (marketing, sales, logistics) to ensure smooth operations and sufficient stock levels.
Attend review meetings with clients, presenting data-driven insights and strategies for account development.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in account management, ideally in FMCG or health and beauty sectors.
Proven success in developing and executing Joint Business Plans (JBP) specific to account needs.
Experience building multi-level relationships and facilitating senior-level discussions.
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Key Skills
Strong commercial acumen with expertise in financial metrics, including ROI, sales modelling, and promotional evaluation.
Proficient in Excel and able to analyse and interpret data to make informed business decisions.
Solid understanding of category management, able to provide trade recommendations that align with client needs.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing decision-makers at the highest level.
Ability to develop compelling PowerPoint presentations for trade and client review meetings.
