About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Design Engineer to join a high-performing design team. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical projects, mentor engineers, and drive innovation across a range of bespoke and standard machinery solutions.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring designs meet quality, cost, and time expectations while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional engineering outcomes.
What you will do:
·Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supporting both technical development and performance.
·Oversee design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
·Design complex mechanical systems, including prototyping, testing, and validation.
·Carry out feasibility studies, risk assessments, and design optimisation activities.
·Apply Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering principles to ensure efficient production.
·Collaborate with production, software, electrical, and quality teams to ensure alignment across projects.
·Liaise with external suppliers and partners to resolve technical challenges.
·Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
·Maintain accurate technical documentation and present progress updates to senior stakeholders.
·Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Skills & Experience required:
·HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
·Proven experience in bespoke machine design.
·Strong track record of managing and delivering engineering projects.
·Proficiency in SolidWorks, including concepts, layouts, and detailed design to ISO standards.
·Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design techniques.
·Excellent leadership, organisational, and project management skills.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
·Confident communicator with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders.
Desirable:
·Experience with commissioning and site-based engineering work.
·Exposure to working with cross-functional or international teams.
