Cybersecurity Architect – Energy & OT

Location: UK / Europe
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Across: UK, Germany & Netherlands

We’re working with a rapidly growing renewable energy business that is looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Architect to take ownership of cybersecurity across both its corporate IT and operational technology (OT) environments.

This is a senior individual contributor role with significant responsibility and visibility, supporting critical solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets across multiple European markets.

You’ll play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s cybersecurity architecture, governance and resilience across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, OT environments and critical infrastructure, while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements including NIS2 and UK cybersecurity legislation.

The Role

As Cybersecurity Architect, you will:

  • Own and strengthen cybersecurity architecture across corporate IT and operational technology (OT) environments.

  • Develop and implement security strategies across solar and BESS infrastructure.

  • Design and maintain secure architectures across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.

  • Provide cybersecurity expertise across SharePoint, identity, cloud and enterprise IT environments.

  • Develop and improve OT cybersecurity architecture, controls and security standards.

  • Assess security risks across IT and OT environments and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Establish and maintain cybersecurity governance, policies, standards and architectural principles.

  • Support cybersecurity risk management across critical infrastructure and operational environments.

  • Lead and support incident response, investigation and remediation activities.

  • Ensure security architecture and controls align with relevant regulatory and industry requirements.

  • Drive compliance with NIS2 and applicable UK cybersecurity legislation.

  • Work closely with internal technology, engineering and operational stakeholders to embed security by design.

  • Act as a senior cybersecurity advisor across the organisation, influencing decisions without direct line-management responsibility.

  • Support the continued development of cybersecurity maturity across the business.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced cybersecurity professional who can operate across both enterprise IT and OT environments and is comfortable working in a critical infrastructure or energy setting.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a Cybersecurity Architect, Security Architect or senior cybersecurity role.

  • Strong experience across IT and OT cybersecurity.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 security.

  • Strong understanding of OT architecture, industrial environments and OT security principles.

  • Experience working with critical infrastructure, energy, utilities, renewables or similarly regulated environments.

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity governance, risk management and security frameworks.

  • Experience with incident response and cybersecurity resilience.

  • Understanding of NIS2 and relevant UK cybersecurity legislation.

  • Ability to translate complex security requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor, influencing teams and senior stakeholders without direct reports.
