Cybersecurity Architect
Location: UK / Hybrid
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Employment Type: Permanent
We’re working with a growing cloud-native SaaS technology business that is investing heavily in its security capabilities and looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Architect to take ownership of security architecture across its next-generation platform.
This is a senior, highly influential role where you’ll establish security architecture as a core part of the platform — embedding Zero Trust, security-by-design and advanced threat modelling across identity, network, application, data and operational security.
You’ll work closely with senior technology leadership and engineering teams, acting as the design authority for security architecture and helping shape how the platform evolves securely at scale.
The Role
As Cybersecurity Architect, you will:
Define and own the security architecture vision for a modern cloud-native SaaS platform.
Establish and embed Zero Trust and security-by-design principles across the platform.
Act as the primary design authority for security architecture decisions and trade-offs.
Design and evolve Zero Trust architecture across Microsoft Azure, identity, networking, applications and data.
Develop secure patterns around least privilege, service identity, workload isolation and access control.
Lead structured threat modelling across platform components, integrations and data flows.
Identify systemic security risks and prioritise remediation based on business impact.
Provide architectural oversight across Microsoft Sentinel, Defender and security telemetry.
Help shape the organisation’s security operating model around detection, response and incident management.
Support ISO 27001 and wider security assurance activities.
Develop reusable security patterns, reference architectures and architectural guidance.
Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure security is considered early in the development lifecycle.
Act as a trusted security advisor, helping engineering teams deliver securely without unnecessary complexity or friction.
Raise security maturity across engineering through pragmatic coaching and influence.
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical security expertise with the ability to influence engineering and technology leadership.
You’ll ideally have:
Proven experience working as a Cybersecurity / Security Architect or senior security specialist within a cloud-native SaaS environment.
Strong expertise in Zero Trust architecture and identity-centric security.
Deep experience with Microsoft Azure security, including:
Entra ID
Microsoft Defender
Microsoft Sentinel
Azure networking
Azure platform security
Hands-on experience leading threat modelling and risk-based security design.
Strong understanding of SaaS security challenges, including multi-tenancy, data protection and platform resilience.
Experience supporting ISO 27001 or comparable security frameworks.
The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience operating as a design authority and trusted advisor, rather than simply an enforcement function.
A pragmatic, commercially aware and delivery-focused approach.
Desirable Experience
It would be advantageous if you also have:
Experience working with enterprise-grade SaaS/PaaS platforms.
Stronger experience across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
Experience within financial systems, ERP or similar business-critical platforms.
Experience working with external security assessors, auditors or penetration testing providers.
A degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related discipline — although equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a business where security is becoming a first-class platform capability, rather than a side-of-desk responsibility.
You’ll have genuine influence over the security architecture of a growing SaaS platform, working closely with senior technology leadership and engineering teams and helping establish the security foundations for the company’s next phase of growth.
If you’re a Security Architect who enjoys shaping strategy, solving complex security challenges and influencing engineering teams, this could be an excellent opportunity.
